Our Story

A home should feel like one

Fyn & Flora began with a simple belief: the small things, beautifully made, are the things that turn a house into a home.

We started in Carlisle, on the edge of the Lake District, because that's where we live — but we draw equally from the wild botanical heritage of South Africa, where the brand's roots are. The name itself comes from fynbos, the slow-growing, fine-leaved shrubland that covers the Cape — a landscape we grew up in, and whose painted proteas and wildflowers still find their way into so much of what we stock.

What we do

We curate textiles, ceramics, kitchenware and decor pieces for English country homes — six small collections, each handpicked and quietly considered. Cushion covers. Rugs. Home decor. Kitchenware. Tableware. Gifts. Nothing more, nothing for the sake of having it.

We work with a mix of small UK makers — a chandler in Penrith, a wood-turner in the Lakes, a stoneware studio in Stoke — and a handful of European and South African studios making pieces we can't find here. Nothing in our shop is mass-produced. Most things are made in runs of fewer than a hundred. When something's gone, it's often gone for the season.

Our promise

We won't stock anything we wouldn't put in our own home. We won't dress up cheap as artisan. We won't fill collections with filler just to look fuller. The range stays small because that's how we keep it honest.

Every order is packed by hand in our Carlisle studio. Delivery across the UK is free over £75. If something isn't right when it arrives, we'll make it right — straight refund or exchange within ten days, no fuss.

Why "Fyn & Flora"

Fyn is from fynbos — fine-leaved shrubland from the Cape. Flora is what grows everywhere we look — Cumbrian wildflowers in spring, fynbos proteas in winter, wisteria over an English doorway in May. The brand sits at the intersection — botanical heritage made for everyday English homes, with a quiet thread of South African colour running through everything we choose.
